I don't know if the Google WiFi would have really blown this thing out of the water, but all I can say is, for me, for what I wanted, this thing gets 5 stars in range, definitely better than my previous setup. No need for the injector but I believe you need to manually configure the PoE mode in the controller if using 24V. When I look at the port management, there are only 2 options in the drop-down for POE: "POE/POE plus" OR "Off".
