About this deal

I was expecting just a cute book full of adventures between a girl and her dog, but it became more than that. It showed a world where there was no need for any more humans, because it was simply just a girl hanging out with her dog. The ‘story’ is told in 8-panel comic strips. There isn’t any kind of consistent timeline here. It feels more like something that should be published in the Sunday paper or a webtoon than a book, in all honesty. I was expecting a much more consistent plotline, more like a traditional manga, and it definitely caught me off guard (and not in a good way). Now that Master is the last human alive, there is room in the world for aliens and cryptids to come out of the shadows and take up residence. So the duo wander about meeting such things as a chupcabra, a kitsune, a kappa, and even the occasional time traveler. The characters are enjoyable. As you may expect, there isn't particularly any outstanding character development, but the characters are still enjoyable to watch. The interaction between the leads are a joy to read; the main girl's cynical and down-to-earth personality as well as Haru-san's overly-philosophical and loving personality makes for a great and fairly humorous relationship. There are a few other recurring characters, like other dog breeds and yokai. They aren't particularly deep, but still fairly interesting. Also, nothing wrong with cute doggos. Finally, the occasional hints at the main girl's personality and her past are a very nice contribution to both her character and to her relationship with Haru-san.

Haru (the dog) is a sweet character, but “Master” (I don’t think we’re ever told her name) is kind of annoying. That aside, this is a joyously bizarre story of a high school girl and her dog roaming Japan after the end of humanity. Dogs talk, aliens have landed and become farmers, and mythological beings are emerging from folklore. It's full-color, four-panel weirdness, and there's something really engaging about that. Ishihara deliberately fudges the big details. Why can the girl understand all of the animals? How did the world end and why did she survive? Who knows! It's less important than the fact that these are things that exist and happened, and we're encouraged to simply roll with it and enjoy the adventure. Shorts | Waterfall Meditation, A Long Tale About a Giraffe, A Short Tale About a Giraffe, & The Romantic Affairs of GiraffesSekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to is a simple 4-koma gag manga about the journeys of an unnamed high school girl and her pet Shiba Inu Haru-san, as they traverse through a post-apocalyptic Japan. They get into random hijinks such as meeting aliens or other cryptids as they journey around Japan. That's not to say that you can't come up with reasons based on what we get in the text. It is strongly implied that the girl – who is only referred to as “Master” by Haru; we don't know her actual name – stopped attending school regularly in middle school, although we don't know why. Is that why she survived, possibly because she was in some secret place alone when the world ended? Does her strong bond with Haru have anything to do with it? It seems possible that she could always talk to him, which may indicate that she was just different enough to become Japan's sole survivor, but the other bits of world-building are odd enough that any logic we might apply to the story is a moot point. For example, cats appear to have been victims alongside humans, which feels odd, because on the whole cats are more predisposed to take care of themselves than dogs in the grand scheme of domestic animals. There's also one strange moment when Siberian Huskies are counted as “Western” dogs, something generally not, as I understand it, part of more official canine classifications. The thing to keep in mind about Doomsday with My Dog is that it’s not trying to be realistic. Conversations include quotes from real people and actual facts, but the destruction of humankind is never explained. Haru’s master survives just fine among the ruins of civilization despite not having any particular skills and effortlessly communicates with aliens, mythological creatures, and all animals, except for the gorilla who only speaks French. a b c "Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to Manga Gets Animated Manga Videos on YouTube". Doomsday With My Dog's first volume is, by and large, fun. That bonus chapter is a blow (although very well done), but generally its breezy approach to post-apocalyptic adventure fiction sets it apart in a positive way. After all, who better to travel with than your fuzzy best friend?

The graphic novel is not a linear story as much as it is a series of little vignettes. One of the standout aspects of Doomsday with My Dog is the relationship between the main character, Master, and her faithful companion, Haru-san. Haru-san is not just a pet; he is a loyal friend and an essential member of Master's survival team. The show beautifully portrays the bond between Master and Haru-san and their unwavering determination
