Description

Peter Quill blasts into intergalactic action as the blaster-wielding, music-blasting hero, Star-Lord—complete with the helmet essential to his adventures across space. Equipped with thermal vision, HUD, and oxygen purification, the helmet has seen Peter through his most challenging of fights—including the Battle of Earth. Attach these panels with hot glue and paper maché the edges. The edges will be cleaned up with filler, primer and more sanding.

The main layer is essentially 1/2” EVA foam that I carved with scissors. 6+ years later I would recommend using a deremel or rotary tool for a more consistent finish. I just eyeballed the shape I made... I believe I attempted this piece 2 or 3 times before I was happy with it. Highly detailed and 1:1 full-scale premium role-play items come to the Marvel Legends line! In addition to 2 glowing LED eyes, the Star-Lord Electronic Helmet features built-in speakers and music detection technology, so wearers can sync up their tunes and get moving and grooving (rhythm not guaranteed). The side pieces are made from flexible drinking straws. Use the lines on the straw to cut it in half. Cut the flexible part of the straw in a triangle shape and put the two flexible ends together using hot glue. Evenly space the side pieces on the helmet and coat them in primer. The helmets complement other Marvel Legends props like Mjolner, the Infinity Gauntlet, and Captain America’s shield, etc. We dedicated a different article to every Marvel Legends role play prop here. A variation on the War Machine Helmet, The Punisher Helmet is inspired by the Marvel: Future Fight mobile video game. The helmet features 2 glowing red LED eyes and a magnetized faceplate. Once the helmet is primed spray the entire helmet gold. Using painters tape cover the pieces by the eyes and cheeks that would remain the gold colour. Once dry spray the helmet with dark steel coloured paint. Remove the tape once everything has completely dried.

Aesthetically, it's bulkier than what Chris Pratt is wearing in the movies. I'm certain that helmet was molded around his head and isn't hard plastic like this. But, it still looks great and would be suitable enough for cosplay or Halloween. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. This 1:1 scale helmet features fine sculpting to match the real one worn by Chris Pratt, and has film-inspired lights and sounds that can be triggered by the person wearing it. Once the panels are attached coat the helmet in primer. When the primer dries you will be able to see and imperfections on the helmet. Using thin layers of spot putty cover any imperfections. Once the putty is dry sand the areas with heavy to fine sandpaper, prime and repeat as necessary.

Edit: Having had it a few more days, and finally getting to compare it to Guardians of teh Galaxy Vol 2, as that just released on video a few of my opinions have changed slightly. What I did not expect is that the weathering on this helmet is in fact a direct copy and perfect match to the weathering of the on screen prop. Every blemish and rub lines up to the on camera model. The weathering on the helmet isn't random. It's pulled from the digital models and printed directly on the helmet. I had some red lighting gel (Rosco colour R26) that I cut into small circles and hot glued on the inside of the helmet. Working in theatre gives me access to this material at little to no cost. I would suggest if you can't find red gel to use red tinted sunglass lenses instead. Marvel Legends Series Star-Lord Premium Electronic Roleplay Helmet with Light and Sound FX, Guardians of the Galaxy Adult Roleplay Gear For over 80 years, Marvel Entertainment has fired the imaginations of kids and adults around the world with tales of suspense, wonder, cosmic adventure, and heroism. From the Fantastic Four’s first flight into space, Marvel has defined and redefined the superhero genre through decades of publication history and licensed television, movies, and merchandise. Hasbro is proud to deliver the Multiverse of Marvel Entertainment to kids, fans, and collectors around the world! The Star-Lord Electronic Helmet is adjustable to fit most mortal head sizes, and boasts a remarkable attention to detail, making it an out-of-this-world addition to any Marvel collection. I primed the helmet using a Rustoleum fill primer. This primer gets into all of the scratches and imperfections and builds up. This eliminate a lot of the sanding I had to do. When the maché is dry coat the helmet in two coats of primer. COSMIC LIGHT FX: Prepare for battle by pressing the button on the side of the helmet to illuminate the red LED light FX I believe I ended up making piece #11 out of 3mm EVA foam. You can probably go the cardboard route, I just found the material was less than ideal for that one detail.

Definitley should think about going over this instructable and seeing if I can make the instructions clearer overall, maybe even make a 2021 version of the helmet. If I had the original I would be attaching reference photos to these responses. The circumference of my head is 22 1/2" (570mm) and printing the template at 100% made a snug, but perfect fit. If you head is bigger/smaller than 22 1/2" (570mm) you can use this formula to determine what percentage your print size should be. With Guardians of the Galaxy being praised as one of the best Marvel movies in years as well as closing out the storied trilogy, interest will be high in the Light-Up Star-Lord Helmet from the franchise’s first installment, released in 2014. In this tutorial I will be showing you how to make a Star-Lord helmet from Guardians of the Galaxy using a pre-existing pepakura template (see step 1).Trace the ear template on to mat card and mount them onto 1/4" eva foam. To attach the ear cut a piece of cardboard that is slightly bigger than the mat card and attach to the inside of the helmet. Using a disk sander slowly shape the lense. Test the fit of the lenses until you are satisfied with how they look. Remove the tape and glue the lenses in with E6000, making sure to keep the glue off the visible part of the lense.
