About this deal

Stop using the mouthwash and seek immediate medical help if you get a rash, swelling of the mouth or face or have difficulty breathing. These effects may be symptoms of a severe allergic reaction which is very rare. Pour 10ml into the measuring cup. Rinse the mouthwash around your mouth for about 1 minute. Spit out the mouthwash, do not swallow it. Adults and children over 12 years of age should use 10ml of the mouthwash to thoroughly rinse the mouth for about one minute twice a day. Spit the mouthwash out after use. If you have any of the following symptoms, it may be a sign of a more serious infection. Stop using chlorhexidine sore throat treatments and speak to a doctor if you:

Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Using the spray is particularly useful when toothbrushing is a problem, for example following dental surgery or in people who are physically or mentally disabled.Chlorhexidine is incompatible with certain ingredients of conventional toothpastes. For this reason, after using toothpaste to brush your teeth, you should rinse your mouth with water and wait five minutes before you use this spray. Or, use the spray at a different time of day to when you brush your teeth. Children under 12 years of age should not use the product unless recommended by a healthcare professional.

Chlorhexidine treatments are generally very safe. Many people use them without having any side effects at all. Side effects with skin treatments Temporary staining of the teeth. This can normally be removed by brushing. You can avoid staining by not drinking tea, coffee or red wine - especially one hour after use, and by brushing daily with toothpaste (see usage instructions.) If staining continues it can be removed with a scale and polish from your dentist or hygienist. You can clean your dentures with denture cleaners Stop using chlorhexidine dental treatments and speak to a dentist, doctor or pharmacist if your mouth is: Talk to a doctor, dentist or pharmacist if these side effects bother you or last for more than a few days: Corsodyl mouthwash contains the active ingredient chlorhexidine, which is an antiseptic and disinfectant agent.Corsodyl spray should be applied as required to the tooth and gingival surfaces, ulcers or other sore areas, using up to a maximum of twelve actuations of the spray (0.14 ml/actuation) twice daily. The spray should be applied once in the morning and once in the evening.

Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before having something to eat or drink. Dosage and how to use throat spray Discoloration of the teeth and tongue may occur. The stain is not permanent and can largely be prevented by reducing the consumption of dietary chromagens such as tea, coffee or red wine. In the case of dentures this can be prevented by cleaning with a conventional denture cleaner. In certain cases professional treatment (scaling and polishing) may be required to remove the stain completely. Stained anterior tooth- coloured restorations with poor margins or rough surfaces which are not adequately cleaned by professional prophylaxis may require replacement. Similarly where normal toothbrushing is not possible, for example with intermaxillary fixation, or with extensive orthodontic appliances, scaling and polishing may also be required once the underlying condition has been resolved. The usual dose for children aged 12 and older is up to 5 lozenges a day. Adults can have up to 10 a day. Brown staining of the teeth. This is not permanent and can largely be avoided by brushing the teeth with toothpaste (but see above), or in the case of dentures, using a conventional denture cleaner. Avoiding drinking tea, coffee or red wine, especially in the hour after using the spray, can also help prevent staining. Where normal brushing is not possible, or if any staining remains, your teeth may need scaling and polishing by your dentist after you've finished using the spray.

Wash your hands before and after using chlorhexidine. Keep it away from your eyes and ears. If chlorhexidine gets into your eyes or ears, rinse well with water. Dosage and how to use lozenges
