Not much has changed for the Planet 50 in terms of comfort features. It comes with the same single layer Insulite Superfine insulation and loose shell design, which makes it particularly well suited to use in hot climates, as it ensures the sleeping bag is breathable. No stitches are made through the sleeping bag’s insulation, which helps to minimise cold spots and keep you warm. The insulation is designed to be compressible, durable and lightweight and is a blend of both siliconised and spiralised fibres. We’re bringing up this kind of mosquito net as well! If you’re going camping or just planning to sleep outdoors in a sleeping bag, this mosquito net will serve you exactly.
Design - It’s hard to define the best mosquito nets based on their design. Some people prefer hanging nets which offer ampler protection. Minimalist mountaineers,on the other hand, might appreciate more a pop-up mosquito net that provides protection in all sorts of environments. The Vango Planet 150 Sleeping Bag is another great quality product from a trusted manufacturer with nearly 50 years experience in the camping industry. You won’t be disappointed. We have used these ourselves and found them to be excellent. It can’t “stand up” by itself like the Kamp-Rite IPS and it doesn’t have a floor. You need to hang the top corner from trees around you or something else and anchor the bottom corners into the ground, creating a cuboid insect-free space for a protected night’s sleep. Overall it worked for me but I wouldn't recommend it over a traditional hanging net if you think that is an option for you. Often there is nowhere to hang a net tho so consider my pros and cons below.
Mesh - Mosquito nets come with all style meshes and not all of them provide adequate protection. In broad lines, all meshes keep mosquitoes and other large insects outside of your sleeping zone. But if you’re traveling to areas with tiny creatures, a No-See-Um mesh is fundamental. Come with adjustable string that can be attached between the loop in the top of the head section and any tree branch so that give you extra space near the head and make you more comfortable when inside the net. When buying a mosquito net, it’s important to find a balance between how tight-knit the mesh is for keeping out even the tiniest bugs and allowing good airflow and breathability. Looking at how many holes per square inch the fabric has will help. A good standard number to use as a jumping-off point is approximately 285 holes per square inch. This will keep mosquitos and most other bugs out without making you feel stuffy when inside. If you need netting that protects against the tiniest bugs like no-see-ums, consider something above 600 holes per square inch, but it will be less breathable.

This tent, which is made out of fiberglass, fits one person, is grey in color, and ranges in size from 26 inches in diameter when folded too, after expansion, with dimensions of 7 feet 2.6 inches by 2 feet 7.4 inches by 1 foot 11.6 inches. It weighs 3-1/4 pounds. Length - While still a number that has to do with the size, a mosquito net’s length deserves special consideration. Depending on the model, the net should be long, but not too long. You should be able to securely fit the mesh under your sleeping bag to seal your sleeping area but the material shouldn’t add too much bulk under your outdoor bedsit. As well as featuring a mosquito net in both the hood and foot, the Vango Planet 50 also comes with improved anti-microbial and insect repellent treatment for 2015. Vango Shield is their new and improved protection used on the new Planet range, replacing the old HHL Vital protection from the previous model. Vango Shield is proven to reduce the growth of bacteria which causes odours and mould from developing on your sleeping bag, and this is also included on the net as well as the sleeping bag’s fabrics. It also acts as an insect repellent to deter insects from landing on the sleeping bag. Based on the above specifications, not a lot has changed compared to the previous model, with the same maximum user height, sleeping bag dimensions and season rating. However there are a few minor changes in terms of spec, including a slightly lighter weight of 900g compared to the previous 950g. It’s impressive that Vango have managed to shave off 50g from the Planet 50’s weight, especially considering there has been no significant change to the fill or usage temperatures.In addition to full-sized nets perfect for family tents, we also offer a mosquito head net.
