This exhibition is our most epic experiment yet! Find out how your food gets mashed, pulped, squeezed and absorbed, and soak up the sights, sounds and even the smells of your incredible digestive system! Operation Ouch, Chris and Xand’s double BAFTA & Broadcast award-winning series for CBBC, continues to delight audiences around the world, with Series 12 being filmed in 2023. Throughout the series, the twins create fun and often disgusting experiments to help kids learn how the human body works. The programme results in fan mail from around the world from a young audience who want to know, above all, what they need to do to become doctors. Their second Operation Ouch tour of Australia this January was a huge hit and they hope to bring the fun to their British fans with a tour in 2018.

Andrex®, one of the UK's most recognisable and celebrated brands, launched in 1942. We have been the nation's favourite toilet tissue ever since. UK households use over 8 million miles worth of Andrex® every year. The doctors' elusive 'cupboard of everything' and interactive lab, brought to life from the screen for the first time. New stories from young people living with a range of digestive conditions, along with the modern-day medicine helping to treat them. Take a walk through the villi in the small intestine, then see if you can hit the high score in the nutrient toss. The museum and BBC have also partnered to bring a retail range of interactive, informative and entertaining Operation Ouch!-themed toys, games, kits and experiments to help visitors continue to explore our brilliant bodies at home. Exhibition credits The Science and Industry Museum tells the story of where science met industry and the modern world began. Manchester was one of the first global industrial cities, and its epic rise, decline and resurrection has been echoed in countless other cities around the world.

This will be the first time hit CBBC show, Operation Ouch!, has been brought to life as an exhibition experience. Visitors will be sent on a special mission to get up close and in one case, extremely personal, with presenters Dr Chris, Dr Xand and Dr Ronx as they are shrunk, swallowed, squeezed through and spat out of Dr Xand's digestive system during a lively, interactive and playful adventure to better understand our brilliant bodies. Another highlight of 2017, was Chris’ BBC1 film The Truth About...HIV - a programme supported by HRH Prince Harry, and Sir Elton John. These notes outline the contents of the full Operation Ouch programme, ‘How are babies made?’. Please note that this film contains sexual references and you should watch it to gauge its suitability before showing either the full film or the shorter clips to your pupils. Note also that the full programme includes content not covered by the primary curriculum (such as family names for genitals). Please ensure you have referred to your school’s policy for RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) to ensure its suitability.Chris and Xand have also performed Operation Ouch Live to sold-out audiences in London's West End and toured Australia. Inhibitions will be left at the door of the Doctors’ elusive ‘cupboard of everything’, where an investigation into some of the body’s funniest functions begins. Whether it’s exploring a set of super-sized gnashers, slipping down the oesophagus or investigating the innerworkings of the intestines, there will be plenty of giggle-worthy grossness to explore as visitors travel like a poo on a journey to discover where food goes when we eat. The programme goes on to introduce the topic of reproduction, genitals and reproductive body parts. It explains that babies start from an egg and a sperm.
