It works in rounds, rather than rows, so it is great for practicing working in rounds. This pattern does use a discontinued Loops & Threads yarn as an accent color, but you could whip it up in only Feels Like Butta yarn without any worry. Bingsoo the Chubby Penguin Yep, it really does folks. I first squeezed these skeins during my trip to New York City for the #LBYBloggerBash and couldn’t believe the softness. I just kept stroking it and dreaming about what to make (more on that in a moment). I always have multiple projects going, anyways, so it’s nice to have one that is relaxing and easy with no shaping or complicated row and stitch counts.

If you love crocheting and knitting, you should think about starting a blog! I’ll help you get started to turn your hobby into a money-making career with my free “Start a Blog” guide. It is a great yarn for beginners. The stitches are easy to see. It behaves a lot like acrylic yarn without the scratchiness. Round 3: Slip st into ch-1 space of corner, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same space, *skip next sc, sc in next st, skip next sc, 5 dc in next sc; repeat from * around, working ch 5 shell in each corner. End 2 dc in same ch-1 space as beginning, join with slip st to ch-3; do not turn.Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as sc), (hdc, dc) into first sc, *skip next hdc and dc, (sc, hdc, dc) into next sc; repeat from * to end, sc in last st; turn. The colors of Feels Like Butta are so wonderful for babies, too. I chose this Lilac and White combo and am so happy with how it has turned out. I’m already planning another blanket with this yarn (although different colors and stitch!). Do you ever go on a crochet binge and just keep making a lot of the same type of project over and over? I do that a lot and lately my binge has been baby blankets! I hope you enjoy blankets, because the Lilac Meadows Baby Blanket is one of my favorites.

I make baby knits exclusively out of acrylics or superwash yarns. Dads and moms will know that baby clothes, blankets, and stuffies are forever covered in… let’s not say what. They need durability to endure frequent washings. So, in the case of these kinds of knits I prefer acrylic yarn. Feels Like Buttadoesn’t make acrylic feel like a sacrifice, because, well, it feels like butta! I think I’ve found my new go-to yarn for infant/toddler knits.

It is also great for amigurumi and wearables for both kids and adults. I have found that the texture changes as you crochet with it, which leads to amigurumi feeling slightly different than a blanket due to tension stretching out the thread in a different way. However, all final products are still soft and smooth. What yarns can I substitute for Feels Like Butta? Feels Like Butta yarn isn’t spun in the normal 2 or 4 ply twist that we see with most commercially made yarns, its structure is more like a cord structure. After some online digging, it looks like this type of spinning is called “cable plied” yarn, and is spun to create a strand that is virtually un-split-able (that’s definitely not a word). Crochet baby blanket patterns have come a long way since I was making them. The designs are creative, detailed and downright amazing. Just so you know how extraordinary it is for me to love this yarn so much, I’ll make a confession to you. I’m a yarn snob. I use almost exclusively natural fibers. There was a time when acrylic would never cross the threshold of my yarn stash, but I’ve discovered acrylic has its uses. Because it’s cost effective, I can complete larger projects, like blankets, without blowing the yarn budget. Most acrylic is machine washable, so I use it for projects that are being knit for friends and family who don’t want to provide extra special care like hand washing.

There is something so sweet about crochet baby blankets. I love the way they feel and the Lion Brand Yarn Feels Like Butta is amazing for baby makes! I’ve made a couple of baby sweaters, hats and mittens with it and it is a wonderful yarn for babies. That’s it! This blanket turned out so well and the sedge stitch was just perfect for this yarn. I hope you will give it a try!
