I felt as though this could have had a prologue with the FMC Libby and her sister to help with the backstory and cement her relationship with her family. This is only the second book I’ve ever DNF’d it’s not something I make a habit of as I like to persevere where I can and give stories the benefit of the doubt. Is it how he has to lift my chin with his fingers to keep my eyes level with his when he scolds me and how I cover my bottom instinctively when he tells me that I've earned a spanking? The old me would have sniffed out that story, but post-apocalypse Mal is too scared to go digging for clues. I love that the author always has a second trope this one being probably one of my favorites enemies to lovers. Now, I’m faking marital bliss as I tremble with fear, and I cannot wait to be out of the clutches of this ruthless man.

I don't know why I decided to read this one, I think I liked the way Brogan was portrayed in the first book. Luciana is terrified of essentially being sold off to a mafia boss, especially one as cruel as Romero, but there’s no saying no in her world.

First it kept my interest from the start but I enjoyed the first story much I just knew I was going like this one.
