I dare say I loved it 🖤 such an interesting magic system, good plot, good character development and visible growth. I could get pickier but I hadn’t even made it halfway before I grew bored and annoyed with our lead. The reader is soon introduced to a magic system based on colours, which is something that I personally had never encountered before. In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. When Lisette isn’t dreaming about gorgeous heroes and sensual heroines, she can usually be found reading about weird history, plotting unrealistic fictional murders or baking way too many chocolate cookies for herself and her boyfriend.

Then I would love to recommend you a lesser known series which I also adored: The Rowan Blood Octology by Kellen Graves. The story starts in Cathra, a human island that has recently installed an iron ward and believes itself to be freed of the Fae dominion.

Best-selling author Mark Manson brings his signature no-nonsense wisdom back to the subject he started his career covering: relationships. There's so much to unpack here that I'm not surprised this ended up being the author's longest book to date, yet it had me totally absorbed throughout!

Emelin is so fierce and strong and Creon is just everything I want in a broody misunderstood dark fae! While it has the makings of a good fantasy story, with a unique magic system and an interesting world, these elements could have been much stronger. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter. While there were a few frustrating moments, as there are with most books ((yes, even ACOTAR (my fave)), this series so far - I’m currently 39% into book 2 - which has been so incredibly good. Court of Blood and Bindings is an adventure tale with lots of romantic tension (quite some spice too), snarky characters and witty banter, and great characters overall.

All these creatures: fae, demons, gods, alves, pheonixes, vampires and nymphs - with their own kind of magic. When she’s not reading or writing, she can usually be found drawing fantasy maps, baking and eating too many chocolate cookies, or geeking out over Ancient Greek. The taverna is the only place that Kostas and Defne can meet in secret, hidden beneath the blackened beams from which hang garlands of garlic and chilli peppers, creeping honeysuckle, and in the centre, growing through a cavity in the roof, a fig tree. Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. There's so much interesting history of the fae and humans and I could honestly picture bits of the history as Emelin learned about it!

Being with your partner may feel like rainbows and unicorns, but that doesn't mean you have a healthy, functioning relationship. I read ACOMAF way back in 2018 but seeing as it's one of my favourite books I remember almost every part. There were a lot of refreshing aspects, like Creon having to communicate through written notes (even though you can imagine the communication problems that brings) and him being incredibly morally grey, and Emelin having forbidden magic. Because the Silent Death is not who he seems, and he has a plan to take our the ruling fae Mother and free those under her control, and he needs Emelin’s help to do it. It’s such an amazing read – especially when you consider that Marshall is still a newly-published author.

Emelin is very smart and determined and I love that she talks back, evil though he could kill her with his pinky. In the following section, you’ll find a recap that you can use to prepare for the next book when it is published. When the brutal fae assassin known as the Silent Death sees her using her magic, he doesn’t kill her on the spot as she expects, instead, he whisks her away from her remote island home to the centre of the fae empire, the Crimson Court. it took me a few pages to really get into it, but once done , I couldn’t put my kindle down to save my life . The final few scenes are really gripping and the intensity carried all the way through to the last line, which leaves us with tons fuel for further books (that I will 1000% be reading).

LGBTQ+ Fae romance with lots of adventure and attention for non-binary characters: what’s not to love? Listen in as she takes six different people on a career change journey to help them figure out what work they would really love to do and create a plan of how to make that career change happen. At this stage, you don’t have to read it first, this book is a very strong series starter, with more extensive world-building than the prequel. She is 20 years old, lives with her parents still, and lets them treat her like total crap, even though she has magic and they do not. And I loved watching him fall for Emelin, feeling things for the very first time, and bravely embracing it.Sir Michael Caine knows a thing or two about gangs: whether that’s joining one as a kid, or playing them in movies for over 50 years. At the very beginning I found myself going “yes, ok go on go on let’s get the ball rolling here” but once it does a couple chapters in- it is well worth the wait.
