As for the Gapchart program, I was still developing and updating it myself, but as I said, it was written in Basic and modern computers no longer have a DOS command level, so it's no longer accesible. I have since tried to emulate a few functions in an Excel sheet, but it's slow going as I don't have that much time and energy to spend on the project at the mo. Yet another project for another rainy day... Well, for what little it might be worth, it is good to see some actual enthusiasts involved in such a venture in these days where faceless, souless corporate types run things. You are certainly correct as to the damage being two-fold, the Hazleton product simply getting worse and worse in recent years -- and it was clear that AH was not getting much help from those at "corporate." The neglect of the other titles is enough to make you realize just how thin the edge is nowadays.

I'd sooner have 2000 words per race of history written by someone who can see the broader picture and the 'why' rather than just the 'what', rather than 20000 of 'raw data'. The Bernie books aren't readable; they were constructed by piecing together ephemera from magazines, and (at least in my opinion) it shows. There was no perspective in the Bernie annuals - Harry Hotshoe's minor vibration in an untimed session gets as much coverage as a dominant race win... They aren't "history". Because he battled Schumacher perceived at his prime and he was not quite the match. Its odd Villeneuve gets the glory for 97 but Häkkinen not for 98, I'd assume it hinges on the performance and particularly shenanigans of Schumacher rather than the eventual champion. This has been written by the newly crowned champion since 1963 and is accompanied by their signature. The only exception was in 1991, when Nobuhiko Kawamoto, the chief of Honda's F1 engine programme, wrote it instead of Ayrton Senna, after Senna was not acclaimed the Number One driver in the annual the previous year, despite winning the title.

AUTOCOURSE includes all the hectic action from the top Touring Car series – the World Touring Car Cup and the British Touring Car Championships as well as the DTM Series running GT cars from Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Ferrari. As a matter of interest, does anyone have any particular things they'd like to see added or omitted, or maybe changed/improved with the 'Courses? You can have detail overkill though. I bought the first of the official Bernie-sanctioned F1 annuals - and just got totally bogged down in it. Some reasonable pictures, but it was just data, data, data -- no real analysis or synthesis at all. The fact that there was a story to be told was almost entirely incidental. Ideal for the F1 monomaniac, but not really interesting. As someone who would dearly love to finalise their collection, reprints of the early years 60's and 70's would be sensational !!!! Pretty please....... What I find more interesting is that Mika didn't manage to get the number 1 spot in 1999, although Frentzen had a great year and thoroughly deserved it. Without MS there, you would have thought Hakkinen had it at a canter, especially the way he dominated in Japan.

Highly respected Mark Hughes looks at the technical developments behind all the competitors in his team-by-team review, enhanced by Adrian Dean's beautiful F1 car illustrations. This year's championship has been dominated by Red Bull Racing, and in particular Max Verstappen who has already clinched the 2023 Drivers F1 World Championship as has the team clinching the F1 Constructors title a few races earlier. Obituaries of persons involved in motorsport who have died during the past year. The 2008 edition included obituaries for Phil Hill, Ove Andersson, Paul Newman and Jean-Marie Balestre, among a few others. As Autocourse is published before the end of the year, persons who died at the end of the year are listed in next publication, for example the obituary of Clay Regazzoni was in the 2007 edition. Motor racing’s other major categories are also fully covered: WEC and Le Mans sports car successes; the closely-fought Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships, featuring emerging young talent from around all continents of the world; and the tightly fought Formula E series for electric powered single seaters. This consists of the full results table for the season, featuring each driver and accompanied since 1996 by a group photo of all the drivers in one of the Grands Prix. Other statistics are also given, such as overall career details for each driver and their average qualifying position over the season.I vaguely recall that they may even have had a normally-aspirated "championship" in 1987? Not that it was considered particularly important, but I guess Palmer was getting credit for winning that. Maybe someone else recalls more about that. List of number one drivers [ edit ] Jim Clark was the first Autocourse #1, in 1966 Lewis Hamilton is the most prolific Autocourse #1, having received the accolade on nine occasions
